Towards an Open Architecture for the Integration and Interoperability of Financial Markets Systems

The recent years have witnessed considerable developments in the area of distributed systems, software and applications, particularly linked to the popularity of the Internet and the provision of Web-based services. This paper studies current developments and trends in the area of financial markets systems. It investigates opportunities for the integration of existing and new services through a distributed software architecture and describes some its essential features. It also discusses the development process of distributed applications based on the use of design patterns.
